In common with many club golfers throughout the country, Jane & Denis Lantsbury were returning home on a cold and wet February afternoon with Jane suffering yet another bad back due to having to carry her clubs.
“Why doesn’t somebody come up with some spikes to fit the golf trolley wheels like golf shoes!” Jane said, knowing she would have to sit out another two weeks.
.
Denis thought it was a brilliant idea and set about putting his mind to a tyre design which would not only aid the golfer, but would also cause little or no damage to the fairways. He experimented with all sorts of shapes and materials, constantly testing and re-testing over many months until the definitive prototype was produced.
Flushed with confidence, he approached various golf clubs who, it must be said treated the Hedgehog with some caution. Undaunted, he demonstrated the Hedgehog with a fully loaded tour bag and trolley, proving that no damage was evident, it was only then that the full picture was emerging.
Every club that imposes a trolley ban in winter months need never have to again with the use of the hedgehog which would allow the use of hand pull trolleys. The other unforeseen bonus is, they make fully loaded trolleys lighter to pull.
So, from that one idea from Jane not only she, but many thousands of club golfers can now play golf throughout the winter without hearing the dreaded words “Trolley Ban”.
